Creating and Using Worklist Subscriptions
Subscriptions are a way to pre-cache the images of up to 30 studies and are supported in any study-based Worklist. Pre-caching images significantly reduces the wait time sometimes associated with retrieving archived images. This feature is especially useful if you work remotely or the network you use has low bandwidth.
Prerequisites
Before you can use the Subscriptions feature, the following settings must be configured:
- Ensure that the Hybrid Mode option is enabled in User Settings. See Configuring Workstation Cache.
- Add the Caching Status column to the Worklist page. See Modifying Columns
- Add the server name as a Trusted Sites to your browser. See your browser configuration settings for more information.
- Optional: If you want relevant priors to be cached along with the current Subscribed study, ensure that the Auto Compare option is enabled in User Settings. See Configuring Auto Compare.

Subscribing to a Worklist
- Right-click the Worklist you want to subscribe to. The context menu displays.
- Click Subscribe.
Results
- Synapse displays a progress indicator
icon to let you know the images are caching.
- The cached
icon displays:
- As soon as Synapse caches the first study and its priors.
- Next to the cached subscription folder, so you can identify your subscribed Worklist.
- Next to cached studies in the Worklist, PowerJacket, and Viewer study list grid.
- Next to cached studies that also exist in other Worklists.
Note: |
If you subscribe to a Worklist that contains both large and small studies, a smaller study might finish caching before the larger study. |
Unsubscribing from a Worklist
- Right-click the Worklist you want to unsubscribe from. The context menu displays.
- Click Unsubscribe.
- Optional: To change your Worklist subscription to another Worklist, follow the steps to subscribe. The previous Worklist subscription automatically ends when you select a new Worklist subscription.
Additional Information
- The Caching Status column displays the progress and status of workstation caching.
- In the Viewer, caching progress indicators
display the series caching status in the viewports.
- Although you can configure Synapse to cache up to 30 studies in SWAT, the default setting is five. For each of those five studies, Synapse can cache up to six priors for a total of 35 studies. If you configure Synapse to cache the maximum number of studies (30), 210 studies can be cached.
- If you subscribe to a folder and dictate the cached studies, the next set is automatically cached.
- Images remain in the cache until you log out.
