Configuring Workflow Settings

This feature is especially helpful to residents working in PowerScribe when they invoke the Draft or Preliminary workflow. See Skipping an Unread Study - F9 and Study Status Handling for PowerScribe Users.

Steps

1. Modify the following settings as needed.
2. Optional: When you finish configuring all settings, click Close

Mark Study Dictated (F8) Settings

Setting	Description
Automatically display next unread study	If selected, Synapse displays the next unread study after marking a current study dictated (by pressing F8).
Return to the worklist	If selected, Synapse allows you to return to the Worklist and manually select the next study. This setting is selected by default.

Note:

If you skip studies (F9) or choose to not view studies that are reserved by another user, an alert displays when you reach the end of the list you are working on to let you know that any remaining studies are either reserved by another user or were previously viewed.

Skip Study (F9) Settings

Setting	Description
Automatically display the next unread study	If selected, Synapse automatically displays the next unread study after skipping the currently displayed study (by pressing F9). This setting is cleared by default.
Return to the worklist	If selected, Synapse allows you to return to the Worklist and manually select the next study. This setting is selected by default.

Automatic Display Settings

Setting	Description
Skip studies in a Preliminary Status	If selected, studies with a Preliminary status will not launch in the normal, automatic workflow. This feature is supported in all Worklists that support automatic workflow. This setting is selected by default. See Changing the Study Status from the Worklist.
Skip studies reserved for others	If selected, Synapse ignores any unread studies reserved for other users when using the automated workflow. This setting is selected by default.
Skip studies currently displayed by others	If selected, Synapse ignores any unread studies that other users with dictation privileges are currently viewing when using the automated workflow. This setting is selected by default.
Always select the study at the top of the Worklist	If selected, Synapse always displays the study at the top of the list when automatically displaying the next unread study. This setting is cleared by default.

Dictation Notification Setting

Setting	Description
Dictation Notification: Synapse notifies the dictation system when an unread study is opened to manually or automatically send study information to the dictation system.
Notify dictation system when an unread study is opened	If selected, Synapse notifies the dictation system when an unread study is opened to automatically send study information to the dictation system. This setting is cleared by default.

Dictation Options Settings

Setting	Description
Mark as Dictated	If selected, Synapse changes the study status to Dictated and removes the study from the Unread Studies Worklist. Note: The study is only removed from the Unread Studies Worklist if you have dictation privileges. The F8 keyboard shortcut is not available when you select the setting Mark as Dictated. This setting is selected by default.
Reserve for Me	If selected, Synapse reserves the study for you. This setting is cleared by default.
Reserve for Others	If selected, Synapse reserves the study for another user. This setting is cleared by default.

Worklist Filter Setting

Setting	Description
Save QBE filters	If selected, Synapse automatically saves filter values and applies them each time the worklist is displayed. This setting is selected by default.

Nuclear Quantification Setting

Setting	Description
Automatically launch nuclear quantification software for unfinalized study	If selected, Synapse automatically launches your configured nuclear medicine application for an unfinalized study. This setting is only available for authorized users of Cedars-Sinai Cardiac Suite and INVIA 4DM.

Reading Protocol Images Viewed Alert Setting

Setting	Description
Show Alert when All Images are Not Viewed	This setting displays an alert for the selected modalities when you press F8 or navigate to the last step in a Reading Protocol, indicating whether a series has been viewed, partially viewed or not viewed. The MG modality is selected by default. See Images Viewed Alert Overview.

Worklist Preview

Setting	Description
Enable Worklist Preview	If this setting is selected and you click Show Default Worklist from the Viewer toolbar, the Worklist displays in a smaller-sized window. The Worklist must be completely hidden behind the Viewer window for this setting to work. This functionality applies to Synapse VX only. This setting is selected by default and only available in Administrator mode.

Results

Synapse automatically saves any updated options and displays the following message in the bottom left corner of the window: Successfully saved.

Synapse displays the following message that you must take the following action to apply the settings: Refresh the Synapse browser window for settings to apply.
