Opening Synapse from the Desktop Agent Icon
If your workstation has the Desktop Agent installed, Synapse displays a Desktop Agent icon in the system tray. Contact your System Administrator to install and configure the Desktop Agent.
Once the Desktop Agent is installed and you intend to use Synapse and your desktop integrations together, you must launch Synapse through the Desktop Agent icon.
Steps
- Ensure that the Desktop Agent is installed.
- Do any of the following:

Choose this option
Change the Synapse client.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
. Synapse displays a context menu.
- Select Settings....
- Select the client and click OK.
Open Synapse with the Desktop Agent located in your Desktop tray toolbar or on your Desktop.
- Double-click the ready to connect
Desktop Agent
.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
. Synapse displays a context menu. Select Launch Synapse....
- Note: Synapse launches using the client selected in Settings.
Change the language of the Desktop Agent context menu.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
or the active Desktop Agent
. Synapse displays a context menu.
- Select Language and select the preferred language from the side menu.
Change the datasource.
- Right-click any of the Desktop Agent icons. Synapse displays a context menu.
- Select Data Source....
- Either select another datasource in the drop-down list or enter in a new datasource.
- Select Use Secured Connection or Use Unsecured Connection.
- Select Accept. Synapse tests and adds the new datasource.
Change to local messaging.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
or the active Desktop Agent
. Synapse displays a context menu.Select Settings... and select Use Local Messaging.
- Note: Local messaging is not available if the client is Synapse VX.
Exit the Desktop Agent.
- Right-click any of the Desktop Agents . Synapse displays a context menu.
- Select Exit.
- Right-click the ready to connect Desktop Agent
