Reallocating a Study

Reallocating a study moves the entire study from one patient to another patient. After the reallocation, Synapse displays the reallocated study with destination patient information.

Note:

  • If AIPF integration is enabled for your site and one of the studies involved in a merge or reallocation of studies, series, or images includes AI findings, a message displays informing you that the AI findings will be cleared and rescanned. A message also displays if the clear and rescan operation fails.
  • AI findings are cleared at the start of the merge or reallocation operation and the rescan is triggered at the end. If the operation is canceled or interrupted in the middle (for example, closing the window while the operation is in progress), the rescan may not be triggered. In that case, you can trigger a scan manually from the Worklist.
  • If you want to reallocate a study and that study is locked by another user use the Unlock Study option in the Worklist or PowerJacket. See Changing the Study Status from the Worklist or Using PowerJacket Context Menu.
  • If the Image Object Change Management (IOCM) is enabled, the annotations do not display when you merge studies, series, or images. See your System Administrator for more information.
  • You cannot reallocate study data to or from a CV migrated study.

Prerequisites

You must have the Content Management privilege to access this tool through SWAT. Synapse logs all changes.

Steps

  1. Open Content Manager. See Opening Content Manager.

  2. If necessary, click Split Screen to change the display to split pane.
  3. Locate the source study (the study to be reallocated).
  4. Select Admin, All Patients, or All Studies to locate the source study using the Query By Example (QBE) fields.
Tip: Enter the Accession number for more precise results.
  5. Locate the destination patient (the patient that will receive the study).
  6. Search using the Query By Example (QBE) Fields and locate the correct Patient (destination) for the reallocation. The best way to accomplish this search is to enter the name or medical record number.
  7. Click and drag the source study to the destination patient.

Results

Synapse transfers the source study folder to the destination patient folder. All images in the source study folder display in Synapse with patient information from the destination patient folder.

Advanced Reporting Results

For Advanced Reporting (AR) studies, Synapse moves the image measurements and AR data to the destination AR study. You need to save the report to recalculate the measurements.
